Monday November 12 Session 5 day 3 Guard your mouth

Session 5 day 3 Guard your Mouth
Please read pages 101-103 in the Bait of Satan Interactive Book

Words kill, words give life, they’re either poison or fruit- you choose. Proverbs 18:21 MSG

The seven things that God says he hates in Proverbs 6:16-19 are pretty powerful. But the more shocking things is three of the 7 involve one of the smallest members of our bodies, our tongue.  If we can win the battle in our mouths we would be on our way to pleasing God. Many of us don’t see gossip or slander as bad but in God’s eyes they are still sins.

Are there Sins that you consider worst than Gossip if so why?

Read 1 Peter 4:8.  When you see someone that has open visible sins do you feel it is your duty to point them out? After reading the scripture what is the value of not verbally exposing them?

Read the following Scriptures and give your thoughts

Proverbs 10:18-21; 17:27-28 and 26:20

Ephesians 4:29-30; Titus 3:1-2; James 4:11-12 an 1 Peter 2:1-3

Psalm 34:12-14 and Proverbs 13:3; 17:9,21:23

Meditate on Pslam 141:1-4 and make it your Hearts Prayer

But I say to allow you who will listen to me: love your enemies, do goo to those who hate you, bless those who curse you , and pray for those who treat you badly.
Luke :27

When we are hurt we must first acknowledge the fact that we have been hurt. Then we must seek God for forgiveness for holding offense against those that have hurt us. Next we must pray for and forgive those that have hurt us

Read 1 Peter 3:8-9
What does this mean to you?

What does God promise us in return for obeying this calling? What must we guard against?
Read 1Peter 3:10-12 anPsalm 34:11-15

How should we treat our enemies

October 29th 2018 Session4 day 3 Submit to Your Leaders

Today read Day 3 pages 79-81 in your Bait of Satan Devotional

Servants (Employees, students, team members etc) be submissive to your masters (employers, teachers managers supervisiors etc) with all fear, not only to the good and gentle but to the harsh also
1 Peter 2:18

We must learn to be submissive even leaders that are not right. When we are on our jobs and we rebel against the leadership that has been placed above us we are going against the heart of God. This may be difficult but with the Holy Spirit it is possible.

Read Ephesians 4:1-7, 23 -32 and 1 Thessalonians 5:12-15

If you were the one in charge how would you want people to submit to you ?

Today meditate on being submitted to God as you submit to those in authority above you.

Session 4 Day 2
Let God be Your Defender

With dread deeds and awesome power You will defend us from our enemies, O God so saves us. You are the only hope of all mankind thorughout the world and far away upon the sea.
Psalm 65:5

One thing that we must remember is the love of God. His desire is for us to know him in a more intimate way. This requires us to trust God even in extreme conditions

We must learn that we don’t need to live a defensive life, we can trust God to take care and protect us.

Have you even been close to loosing your job because you were standing up for what was right? Has dong the right thing caused you to be mistreated? If so explain.

Has God ever requested that you apologize to a leader that has been mean or harsh to you? If so who was the leader? Have you done it? If so what was the leaders response?

If you have not apologized, why? What do you think God is trying to teach you in this chapter?

Be careful not to jump to conclusions before the Lord returns as to whether someone is a good servant or not. When the Lord comes, He will turn on the light so that everyone can see exactly what each one of us is really like, deep down in our hearts. Then everyone will know why we had been doing the Lord’s work. At that time God will give to each one whatever praise is coming to him. 1 Corinthians 4:5

When people mistreat us and falsely accuse us we naturally become judgmental. Read the following Scriptures what should we expect if we are judgmental Matthew 7:1-5 , Luke 6:37-42. What is God showing you?

Also read Romans 14:10-13, and James 4:11-12

In God have I put my trust and confident reliance; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Psalm 56:11

Don’t fall into the trap of getting even with those that have done you wrong, remember God is able to avenge you. Getting even will turn your heart away from the Love of God.

Tuesday 10/23/2018 Honor Those in Authority

Today read Pages 59-61 in the bait of Satan Interactive Book

Honor Those in Authority

Honor all people. Love the brotherhood Fear God, Honor the King
1 Peter 2:17

According to Scripture all authority is established by God . “ For promotion and power com from nowhere on earth but only from God. He promotes one and deposed another. (Psalm 75:7)
Yet while all authority is from God, not all authority is godly. Many times we have tot see beyond the persons behaviors and honor their God- given position.

Carefully read Romans 13:1-7. What insight about leadership is God showing you in this passage? JHow does it challenge i you ?

Are there any poeple in authority in your life that you were convinced were not established by God? If so, who? Why did you feel this way? How did you treat them them in response

Under what circumstance are we not to obey human authority. Even during these circumstances what should be our attitude?

Cheek out Shadrach, Meshach and Abednegro’s response to King Nebuchadnezzar in Daniel 3:8-18

God tells us to horror our leaders- regardless of their behavior. Take time to read these passages. Name a few practical ways to honor authority. Why does God ask us to do this?

Exodus 22:28 and Ecclesiastes 10:20

1 Timothy 2:1-4

In the scriptures you just read what was Saul like when he was first called? What does the scriptures say about him

Read 1 Samuel 13:1-15 and 15:1-26
What did Saul do to get rejected by God? What was he most concerned with?

There are no substitutes for obedience... Obedience to God is the key to life! It is the key to the kingdom of God( see Matthew 7:21-22) Obedience is like building your house (life) on a rock. It will not be shaken or moved when the storms of life come (Luke 6:46-49)

Is there an area in your life where you know you’re not obeying God? If so what is it? What can you learn from Saul’s example and personally apply in your life?

God has a good plan for you! But to live them out, his character has to be developed in you
Read Romans 12:1-2. Philippians 1:6, 2:12-13 ,RThes 5:23-24, James 1;21-25 , 2 Timothy 3:16-17

What do you think is the meaning of “The Fear of God”?

God gives us some insights in Deuteronomy 10:12-13. “And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the Lord, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭10:12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Psalm 34:11-14. “Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord. What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good? Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.”

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.”
